The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen

This is one of the best books that I had read. I could almost smell the food in a country kitchen in war time France when I was reading it. I could imagine what the fragrance must be like to gather with  an entire village of  Montvernier to bake lots of bread in a communal wood-fired oven that was the size of a house.  I will give this book away when I'm done enjoying it. This is the first book that I checked out from the library in 2021! Happy reading for the New Year, everybody!! Call me shallow but  I like this book more than the other book that I have been trying to finish reading since last year.  Supper Menu inspired by pg. 23 of this book (The meal that Laura made for Gabe on their first meeting): BLT Sandwich Clam Chowder Milk Coffee Laura seemed to also enjoy hot chocolate .  So I often made one when I have time to sit down to continue my reading of this book.
