The Summer House

I'm thankful that I can read, because whatever I can't afford in real life, I dream of having it by escaping into a book.  The fact that my local library actually has this book waiting for me to check it out, makes me feel less bitter towards my landlord when he tells me that he needs to raise my rent because the government raises his property taxes.

I've been staring at this magazine for the last 15 minutes, trying to decide whether I should get rid of it or hold onto it. I'm holding onto it because I really love this magazine, and it's not available at my local library. Decluttering a bookself is actually very difficult for me.

I'm dusting my bookshelf tonight to see which books or magazines I should get rid of now. No, not this magazine. This is a glossy copy that I bought from the newsstand, not the flimsy subscription copy that has address label. But if you want to offer an Amazon or Ebay competitive price to buy this magazine from me, I may consider selling. Contact me if you want to make an offer . In the meantime, you can click here to read one of the featured stories in the magazine that touched me very much.

Flowers: Anti-Stress Coloring For Adults

I really enjoy coloring this book. I'm going to color this book everytime when I feel angry, frustrated or stressed out .  The pages on this book are poster size and large enough to be hanged as wall art.  I'm planning on hanging my finished hand-colored work when I'm done. In the meantime, it only takes one click on my computer to  do the coloring:

This is my latest magazine buy from a brick and mortar bookstore, because even the mega online store Amazon can't have everything.  Amazon doesn't have this magazine.

Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine June 2018 Issue

I'm dusting my bookshelf today and found this magazine that I bought but I had forgotten about. It's very hard for me to let go of old magazines, particularly great magazines like this one. As a renter, I don't know why I even bother to keep this magazine on my shelf.  But I enjoy reading it and day dream about having my own home one day... May be one day I will finally let go of this magazine.  Click here to read a page .

The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen

Image
This is one of the best books that I had read. I could almost smell the food in a country kitchen in war time France when I was reading it. I could imagine what the fragrance must be like to gather with  an entire village of  Montvernier to bake lots of bread in a communal wood-fired oven that was the size of a house.  I will give this book away when I'm done enjoying it. So, follow me on Twitter and keep posted.

Next Year in Havana

I had never borrowed one book from any library in my entire life, so I'm going to borrow my first book (see the picture above)  from my local library.  I don't even have a library card.  I'm one of the many people who rarely stepped inside my local library; rarely in my case  means never.  The last time when I was in a library was when I was in college. I visited my college's beautiful library  may be  for about 4-5 times.  Except for the one time when  I attempted to go there to study, the rest of my visits were for some group projects for which my groups wanted to meet in the library.   I only tried to study once in my college library because I couldn't sit still there. I found the library too distracting for me to study in. I ended up wandering in the huge beautiful library, from floor to floor, people watching and  snooping on books and magazines, when I wasn't internet surfing on the library computers. I never checked out a book from that beautiful col

To me, this book is horribly lame and poorly written.  I don't need to really say how bad this book is because those readers who left bad reviews for this book on Amazon had already said it all for me. I  had been trying to give away the above book to make space on my bookshelf .  But after months of posting the giveaway on this blog, I couldn't find anyone who is interested in having it.  So I used the book to light my charcoal grill, because I haven't thought of what else I can do with a book that no one wants.  I didn't give it to the library because my local library already has a few copies of it.  I bet the library doesn't need another of the same book to take up valuable shelf space either.   I'm just glad this book is no longer on my bookshelf now. Click here to see what I'd learnt from reading this book :)
