The Next Best Thing - Free Novel Giveaway

Since the beginning of this blog, I had listed this book on this blog to be given away. It's been years now and there hasn't been any taker.  My local library already had several copies of this book so I don't want to give it to the library to take up its valuable real estate.  Today, I donated this book to the free little library on the curbside.  Now my bookshelf has one book less. My Review On This Book: A lot of my friends like this book. They are the ones who recommended this book to me. But this book isn't my cup of tea.  I didn't relate to the heroine Ruth and I have no interest in her love life either.  None of her boyfriends were likable and they failed to impress me. I found the sex scenes in this book stupid and totally not romantic.  The only likable characters in this fiction were Ruth's grandma and her boyfriend whom she eventually married in the story. The backdrop of this fiction was Los Angeles but reading it didn't make me particularly...

The Kiss

Today, one of my friends reminded me of a book that I gave her long time ago, a book that I even forgot about reading it.  When she mentioned the book's title to me, I couldn't register it at all.  But after I went to Amazon  to read the book summary on the back cover,  I started to remember, even though the details of the story is still missing in my memory.  Now I remember I didn't care for this book too much when I read it years ago because I was still single and I couldn't relate to the marriage problem in the story.  May be if I re-read the book now, I will feel differently. Who knows.  But I don't  intend to spend time to re-read a book that didn't leave much an impression in me the last time.  I certainly don't want to buy this book again just because I don't remember I had bought it once, read it and gave it away already.  This is why I'm leaving  a reminder here for myself.   P.S. I'm currently giving aw...

The Christmas Thief

To me, this book is horribly lame and poorly written.  I don't need to really say how bad this book is because those readers who left bad reviews for this book on Amazon had already said it all for me. I  had been trying to give away the above book to make space on my bookshelf .  But after months of posting the giveaway on this blog, I couldn't find anyone who is interested in having it.  So I used the book to light my charcoal grill, because I haven't thought of what else I can do with a book that no one wants.  I didn't give it to the library because my local library already has a few copies of it.  I bet the library doesn't need another of the same book to take up valuable shelf space either.   I'm just glad this book is no longer on my bookshelf now. Click here to see what I'd learnt from reading this book :)

Wait For Me

Image
I read this book on my phone during my wait for a table at the restaurants that I love, during the tortuous wait at the DMV, during the wait at the dentist and doctors' offices, and just any time I had to wait for something.  This is the first e-book that I read because I somehow prefer to flip the pages of a paperback. I just enjoy the visual of a pretty bookcover in print much more  than in digital form.  Strangely, I felt a sense of accomplishment everytime when I flipped the page of a physcial book.  But I just couldn't feel the same accomplishment when I flipped the screen of my phone. To me, this book is absolutely plain. It reads like it was written by a high school teenager who's only expierence in romance and life is the watching of the Hallmark movies. If it weren't free from Kindle as a promotional giveaway, I don't think I would have downloaded it to my phone.  The cover design is very appealing though.
